Support

Frequently asked questions and how to get help with Photo Triager.

How do I open my photos?

Tap the "Open Folder" button on the landing page. This opens the iOS Files picker where you can navigate to any accessible storage — an SD card reader, external SSD, iCloud Drive, or your device's local storage. Select the folder containing your RAW files and the app will scan it.

Which RAW formats are supported?

Photo Triager supports Sony ARW, Canon CR3/CR2, Nikon NEF, Fujifilm RAF, and Panasonic RW2. Format support depends on Apple's iOS platform capabilities — see Apple's supported camera list for model-level coverage.

What are XMP sidecar files?

XMP sidecars are small files written next to your RAW photos that store your triage decisions (reject, pick, star ratings, color labels). They're an industry standard — when you open the same folder in darktable or Lightroom on your desktop, your decisions are already there.

What's the difference between darktable and Lightroom mode?

The two modes write slightly different XMP sidecar formats. Darktable mode writes sidecars named IMG_0001.ARW.xmp and supports multiple simultaneous color labels. Lightroom mode writes sidecars named IMG_0001.xmp and supports pick/reject flags. Choose the mode that matches your desktop RAW editor in Settings → Photo Triager.

Does the app need an internet connection?

No. Photo Triager is fully offline. It makes no network connections and collects no data. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I use the app on iPad?

Yes. Photo Triager works on both iPhone and iPad, including iPad multitasking split views. It requires iOS/iPadOS 18 or later.

Will my existing sidecar files be overwritten?

No. Photo Triager merges its metadata into existing sidecar files, preserving any fields and namespaces it doesn't manage.
